Overview

MDID 2, the Madison Digital Image Database system, has tools for managing your digital image collections and tools for integrating digital images into the teaching and learning process. MDID is an elegant and intuitive system, easy for faculty and students to use.

Continuing the tradition of a freely shared educational resource, MDID 2 is distributed free of charge under an open source license.

MDID 2 Technical Requirements

Server: MDID 2 is an ASP.NET web application using IIS on Windows 2000/2003 server, or Apache 2 with Mono 1.0 on Linux. Supported databases are MySQL 4.1 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The application, database, and images may reside on different servers.

Client: Supported web browsers include Internet Explorer 5 or higher, Mozilla, and Safari. Flash 7 plugin required.

The ImageViewer 1 classroom application runs on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and Mac OS 9. The ImageViewer 2 application, which is not yet released, will run on Windows and Mac OS X.
